The Hopelessness of the Godless Theory

When evolutionary ideas are taken to their logical conclusion they ultimately deny God and His authority. Let’s take a look at the inevitable outcomes that derive from this theory.

If evolution is true, then there is no need for God.

Not all evolutionists are atheists, but when the theory of evolution is taken to its logical conclusion, there is no need for a Creator. According to evolution, everything in existence is a result of natural processes and chance.

Therefore, if a person holds to the atheistic theory of evolution, then he is inferring that the God of the Bible, who makes it clear that He alone created the heavens and the earth by His power, either lied or does not exist.

But we know that “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” –Genesis 1:1

If evolution is true, then the Bible is erroneous.

The Bible and evolution cannot BOTH be true. The Bible clearly states that God is the Creator of everything. If evolution is true, then the Bible is completely mistaken.

But we know that the Bible is the infallible word of God and For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.” –Colossians 1:16

If evolution is true, then life just happened by random chance.

The evolutionist rejects any semblance of supernatural causes from scientific discussions. Knowingly or unknowingly, he does have a god. The god of the evolutionist is the “god of chance”.

But we know that it requires more faith to believe that the god of chance could construct the universe in all its complexity and splendor than to believe it has been divinely created, by and through the wisdom, power and supreme intelligence of an awesome Creator.

If evolution is true, then there is no need for a Savior.

If the theory of evolution is true, then the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is unnecessary, because there is no Creator to whom we are accountable for our sins. However, the Bible says Jesus Christ came to die for the sins of the world.

But we know that “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

If evolution is true, then there is no basis of right or wrong.

If there is no Creator, then we are left without any moral absolutes, without any way to determine whether something is good or evil.

This can be seen in a quote by an economist by the name of Jeremy Rifken:

“We no longer feel ourselves to be guests in someone else’s home and therefore obliged to make our behavior conform with a set of pre-existing cosmic rules. It is our creation now. We make the rules. We establish the parameters of reality. We create the world, and because we do, we no longer feel beholden to outside forces. We no longer have to justify our behavior, for we are now the architects of the universe. We are responsible to nothing outside ourselves, for we are the kingdom, the power, and the glory for ever and ever.” –Rifken (in his book, Algeny)

Rifken makes the observation that if there is no God, then we are obviously not subject to any higher authority. It’s interesting that these ideas fit well with God’s Word when it says:

“And even as they did not like to retain God intheirknowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness;they arewhisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful…” Romans 1:28-31

Romans accurately predicts what we’ve seen. And the more people accept the idea that there’s no God, the more we will witness the moral decline of our culture.

If evolution is true, then mankind has no genuine hope for the future.

Finally, if the theory of evolution is true and mankind evolved by random chance, then there is no real purpose for our existence, and hope is an illusion. The rejection of our Creator leads an individual down the path to hopelessness and despair.

Richard Dawkins is an outspoken atheist and evolutionary biologist. In his book, River out of Eden, he writes, “Humans have always wondered about the meaning of life…life has no higher purpose than to perpetuate the survival of DNA…life has no design, no purpose, no evil and no good, nothing but blind pitiless indifference.”(emphasis added)

Edward O. Wilson, distinguished professor at Harvard University states, “No species, ours included, possesses a purpose beyond the imperatives created by its genetic history.”

The inevitable outcome of evolution is meaninglessness and gloom; but those who acknowledge the overwhelming case for Creation and put their faith in Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, are blessed with the joy and assurance of spending eternity with Him!

“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.” (Colossians 1:16)
